Project Details
Flint Hill School is a JK-12 independent/private school in Oakton, VA. Tasked to design a new middle school with a strong identity in a flexible building, the architect designed the new Peterson Middle School with a bold, modern “industrial” look that creates a strong presence on the campus. Dark Ironspot brick from Endicott, exposed concrete and structural steel, and industrial windows give a historical nod to the building’s backstory and complement the existing upper school’s aesthetic of salmon and buff colored ground and smooth face block, and corrugated metal and storefront. Peterson Middle School opened in the fall of 2020 with 16 classrooms, an Innovation Hub with dedicated space for computer science, makers and robotics projects, an art studio, quiet study rooms and much more.
